Had a cool experience with Victor and Esmeralda. Victor is a non
member and his wife is a member. She cut our hair a week ago and it
was really funny because Elder Howard didn’t explain very well in
Spanish what he wanted and halfway we walked in and Elder Howard
looked mortified as she cut a little bit of his bangs and we just saw
the look on his face.. you had to be there!! Lol! She did a great job
at the end. She is so sweet too. She may not be here much longer as
her health isn’t too well. She is a great example to her husband and I
believe he will accept the gospel soon. This week was really good though. We have a cool neighbor named Dale
who we get to talk to when we cross paths in and out of our apartment.
It’s super funny because he can’t hear very well so this week we asked
how his week was and he acted like heard us and replied “yeah”. He is
chill as heck. He is a man of few words. Unfortunately he declined our
offer to play some pool.

A lot of cool experiences. Taylor came to church this Sunday so that
was awesome!

Great week love y’all

July 31

Este semana estaba buena. Reciente, yo traté a hablar en español más

porque quiero progresar en el idioma. Muchas experiencias con el

espíritu el semana pasada. Testificó que el espíritu puede ayudar la

gente si lo permiten.
We were able to give service this past Saturday, and the weight of my

disease felt a bit heavy as it does at times. On the car ride home I

could feel the weight being lifted from me as I felt comforted by the

spirit. It was such a blessing to know that God will never give us

more than we can handle as we continue to rely on him and serve

others. The Lord always keeps his promises.
Book of Mormon

Mosiah 24

13 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in

their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort,

for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will

covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.
14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders,

that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in

bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me

hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do

visit my people in their afflictions.
15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma

and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them

that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit

cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.

Trespassed on his property, knocked on his door. Vicious dogs ran out

and Troy saved us from them. We had a good convo and he has a lot of

This Is Legit

What a week! Tonight, I had an opportunity to give a blessing to Taylor and again, I felt a witness and the truth and legitness of everything we share! Our message of the restoration is true, Christ’s only full Gospel was restored again to the earth beginning with the visitation of God and Jesus Christ to the young boy Joseph Smith, who described his experience as he prayed asking which church he should join.
“I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. … When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other–This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” (Joseph Smith–History 1:16–17).
God the Father and his son Jesus Christ, two separate glorified beings appeared to him that day and told him “that they were all wrong” and that “They draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof” (Joseph Smith–History 1:19).  14 year old Joseph Smith had a vision and really saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. And he was later called as a prophet of God to restore the gospel which had been lost, back to the earth in its fullness. He was an instrument in Gods hands, and because of his willingness to do what God asks we have tangible evidence of whether or not Christ church has been restored again and whether Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. We have the Book of Mormon. Another testament of Jesus Christ, it is a “record of God’s dealings with ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains the fulness of the everlasting gospel”(introduction of Book of Mormon). We invite all to read it with a sincere desire to know if it is true and to pray and ask God, like 14 year old Joseph did in 1820. I know without a doubt in my mind and heart that what I have written is true. I would have already quit my mission if it was false. I am a witness, a representative of Jesus Christ, set apart and called of God through a prophet Today. His name is Thomas S. Monson. I know he is a prophet today because I prayed and asked God. I love you all and I beg that you give our message a chance, it can truly change your life if you truly desire to know truth.
Take care,
Elder Barber!

Figuring things out(our week)

Last one with Carlito

Sometimes you just gotta feed the turtles. (Last day with Elder Mikos)

After Robs lesson

This is Rob from my plane ride to Ronald Reagan Airport last week, we were able to do a pass off lesson with him this week.

9 Months later the same trio is back! Elder Lykins changed a lot….LOL! Jk! HAHAHA, Elder Mikos went home due to health reasons so I am in a trio with Elder Howard and Elder Valesquez. We are covering 3 areas now with this new change. Yee yee! Elder Valesquez is from Honduras and it’s good to be back with Elder Howard again. We have grown a lot.

What’s Most Important

This week I had the opportunity to go on a special doctor visit to
Maryland to the National Institute of Health. I was able to be with my
parents for about 24 hours which was a huge blessing because it’d been
8 months since any real contact. Families are awesome man. Super
grateful for the time spent with my parents even if it was short.
Being with them also made me realize how unique of a time a mission
is-2 years fully devoted to helping others come onto Christ. I have
grown a lot and I am so thankful for the people who have helped me
become who I am today. Also realized while being in the real world for
24 hours that I’m a weirdo and all I talk about it is missionary
work…LOL! 😂(actual laughing!!!). Heck ya.

The person I am today is someone who I like. I know this Gospel is
true, it brings me joy. I am losing my fear to share it with almost
everyone. On my plane ride to Maryland, I sat in 1st class;) As people
were boarding the plane, a dude in a suit stopped at my aisle as his
assigned seat was next to mine. The first thing he says to me was “you
look like Ben Affleck”. Frick yeah, his name is Rob. He just so
happened to be from McKinney, Texas and even better, he lives in my
mission area! Our conversation continued from the time we left Florida
to the time we landed in Ronald Reagan Airport. I gave him a Book of
Mormon and we will be introducing him to the Elders near us this coming week😎

Also, I have a greater testimony that everyone needs a friend. Life
can be tough sometimes, but with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we can
get through any trial. Be a friend to someone who has no one or who even has
many friends!

Elder Mikos wasn’t feeling too well this week so we were at our
apartment for a good majority. I was able to chuck a ninja thing at
the ceiling to pass the time (see picture below).

4th of July

Pretty sweet week! My companion is super chill. Elder Mikos. I reallyenjoyed teaching Taylor this week about the Word of Wisdom. Thankful

for the sacrament. Elder Mikos got sick this weekend so we weren’t

able to make it to church yesterday. We weren’t able to get the

sacrament. I am super grateful that Christ provided a way for us to

continue enduring spiritually each week by renewing our baptismal

covenants through the sacrament. Each week we get to strive again to

follow Jesus Christ and keep his commandments. Looking forward to

partaking of the sacrament next Sunday.
Clase de ingles went really well, after we need a chapel tour with the

whole class! Thankful for the members who help us out so much.
Kittim is able to walk without crutches now! We passed by and he

seemed much happier.
4th of July was nuts! A member in the Lake Mary ward was shooting

firewoods like 4 feet away from his front door. It was bodacious.
Have a great week,
Elder Barber

Blessing Experience

Pretty awesome week. Enjoying my time on my mission. I have atestimony of following the spirit. We felt prompted to knock a lady’s

door a couple weeks ago and the other day we passed by to give her a

blessing. It was a very special experience as she has been searching

for someone to anoint her. Recently, her Aunt, who lives in Puerto

Rico told her that she felt that God wanted her to tell the her that

she needed to find a church that would anoint her. We anointed her

with oil for a healing blessing. We laid our hands upon her head and

bestowed a blessing of health and anything else according to the will

of our Loving Heavenly Father. I know that the words spoken were

directly from God to the priesthood holder to her. We were just

instruments in Gods hands. Blessings work according to Gods will and

the faith of the one receiving the blessing. The spirit filled the

room and after the blessing she shared with us that experience she had

about her aunt. Grateful for another week. I will be staying in Lake

Mary and will be getting a new companion! Elder Mikos. Gonna miss

Elder Rockwood.
Love this gospel. I know it’s true.

Dream Team

“Dream Team”
This week, with the Help of God. We were able to orchestrate a temple

tour for Kittim and Antonio. We were able to get a ride from a member

from El Salvador whom we had never met before. Her name was Stephanie.

It was perfect because we’d never known or met Stephanie before and

she was going to give us a ride. And neither Kittim or Antonio knew

each other. So going into this car ride we had no idea who our driver

was and nobody had anything in common. It was legendary. Kittim, the

islander. Stephani, the willing member, Antonio the Ex convict, and

than Elder Rockwood and I. We broke the ice by sharing our favorite

colors and as the drive continued, Antonio shared with me that he

likes to draw. We arrived at the temple and the spirit was there. It

was beautiful. Felt prompted while we were outside the temple to have

each of us pray to ask God if everything the gospel offers is true. I

prayed and I received an answer. I found out again for myself, that

the gospel is true. Thanks to a loving Heavenly Father and his son

Jesus Christ for providing a way to communicate. Love Kittim and

Antonio, they are 2 great guys and I love becoming genuine homies and

sharing our precious message.
I am really grateful for the spirit. It truly will never lead us

astray. I am thankful that I was baptized by proper priesthood

authority and was able to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Elder Barber

Also, as we toured the temple we all had a chance to just lay on the grass and enjoy the moment of being on the grounds of the house of the Lord. That was my favorite part. The goal is Eternal Life.

As you can tell we are very close

Haitian Mango

Seeing others come to the gospel makes me so happy. I got to see Lucy’s Baptism this week in Buena Vista YSA. I taught her while I served there. It was so sick to see the joy she had after being baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I feel so much love for everyone. I cannot deny the correctness and truth of this gospel. I was also able to see my homies elder Acevedo and Elder Bigler, love those goons. I feel a lot of peace and joy being out here on a mission. I am learning a lot.

Met an old guy standing outside a gas station who was a little drunk, which always makes for an interesting conversation. His name was Pat. He was repping a shirt with a wolf and a moon on it. He is from West Virginia. As we approached Pat he started by saying he already knows about us and that he was good, we assured him we were just trying to have a conversation because we were bored waiting for our gasXD. As the conversation wth good Ol Pat continued the spirit prompted to share the gospel so we did. He was still, and quickly got quite frustrated with us and told us to come back another day at that exact spot in front of the gas station. Pat is chill.

We bought Old man Vinny a Haitian mango in hopes that it would lighten his spirits as he has had many debilitating health issues in his life recently. We met him last week through his neighbor.(shout to his neighbor Shawn for helping us out) and we checked on him again this week and he appreciated it a lot. He was wasn’t interested when we first met him but with a Haitian mango and the help of the spirit he said he is open to learning more about what we believe. We are excited to visit him this week.
Elder Rockwood and I are straight chilling and being chill. HAHA, but honestly we are having a lot of fun out here. We have some investigators we are working with who have a lot of potential. My area is special because I get to work with English and Spanish people.
The spirit is special thing. Love the gospel. Love you all.
Elder Barber
Also, our Spanish class is bumping. this week we put up flyers at the local Latino markets. We are very passionate about English class. Thanks to the members for helping us with the class and the work.

What a day!!!

I truly want to write about my week but I cannot think very well. Hereare some great pics from a great week. Learning how to trust the

spirit. My favorite part of being a missionary is seeing the joy that

the gospel brings to others. We are meeting with a guy named Kittim.

He is from the Virgin Islands! We encountered him while searching for

someone to give guava bread to. We gave it to him and walked away. We

stoped by the next day and had a great experience with him. Each visit

his countenance has grown brighter. He is praying and reading for the

Book of the Mormon. Thankful for Gabe, he’s a member who has been

coming out with us and he is now planning on serving a mission! Pretty

cool. Sick week.
